Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants to attend a conference on Ukraine’s reconstruction in Tallinn with other world leaders, Estonia’s Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said, according to ERR.

Tsahkna said Zelensky had signed invitations with Estonia’s prime minister and invited world leaders to the conference. He said there was no doubt it would take place at leaders’ level, though it remained unclear what condition Ukraine would be in by late January.

The conference aims to secure concrete results and funding for Ukraine, Tsahkna said, adding that the discussions would concern billions of euros rather than a few million.

Tsahkna said Estonia hoped Zelensky would attend in person. If the situation in Ukraine prevented him from travelling, he said, that could raise the stakes and strengthen other leaders’ commitment.

Media reports had recently speculated that Ukraine’s senior leadership might be unable to travel to Estonia because of a difficult winter. The Ukraine Recovery Conference URC27 is scheduled to take place in Tallinn on January 28 and 29.
