Clocks across Latvia must be turned back one hour at 4 a.m. on Sunday, October 25, as the country switches to winter time, the Ministry of Economics said, according to LSM.

Although the European Union has discussed ending seasonal clock changes, no common decision has been reached. Many member states say a full impact assessment is needed, including an analysis of economic costs and effects on society and health.

Latvia’s clock changes follow government rules adopted in 2010. Clocks move forward at 3 a.m. on the last Sunday in March and back one hour at 4 a.m. on the last Sunday in October.

Summer time was first introduced in Latvia in 1981. The next change to summer time is scheduled for March 28, 2027, when clocks will move forward one hour at 3 a.m.
