Supreme Court member Oliver Kask has discussed with the president whether he would take the post of Estonia’s next Chancellor of Justice, ERR reported. “If I receive an offer, I am prepared to consider it seriously,” he said, adding that he was not sure whether he would ultimately accept.
President Ülle Madise began meeting with political parties this week to discuss, among other things, candidates for the next Chancellor of Justice.
The president nominates the Chancellor of Justice, who is appointed by parliament for a seven-year term. Deputy Chancellor of Justice Olari Koppel has been performing the duties temporarily since October 13 and will continue until the next Chancellor of Justice takes the oath of office.
