Holy Motors have released their third album, Heaven’s Night, on Wharf Cat Records, ERR reports.
The band began working on the album in 2021, when guitarist Ivar Mägi and multi-instrumentalist Villem Sarapuu joined Eliann Tulve, Lauri Raus and Caspar Salo. They recorded it last summer at Ö Studio in Tartu with Martin Kikas. It is the band’s first album recorded in Estonia.
The album features 10 tracks with a total running time of 37 minutes. Tulve said in the summer that Kikas had worked extensively with the band and on its music, adding that he was almost like a band member.
Tulve and Raus wrote the songs, which tell stories about characters searching for “something more” in their lives, often against the atmosphere of the American so-called Wild West.
Holy Motors previously released Slow Sundown in 2018 and Horse in 2020.
