Eleryn Tiit and Quavo have released new albums, while Heleza and other artists have put out singles in the first Friday of October’s new-music lineup, ERR’s Neit-Eerik Nestor reports.
Eleryn Tiit and Town Flesh
Tiit’s second album, “Meil pole aega maa ja ilm,” features songs about missing loved ones, falling in love, walking through life alone and making peace with things. She made the album over the past year with producer Sten Šeripov. ERR describes the pair’s approach as taking apart Tiit’s romantic ballads and rebuilding them with more textured, lively and substantial elements.
Town Flesh, made up of Sander Varusk, Ivar Mägi, Hendrik Tamberg, Villem Sarapuu and Egert Kääsel, released its first EP, “The Town Flesh Extended Play.” The band says it aims for authentic indie rock, 1970s art rock and 1960s psychedelia. The release includes four main tracks and two remixes by Rein Fuks and The Lunacy of Flowers.
New singles
Heleza’s third single of the year, “Kiirelt ja valjult,” was made with Emily J and Karl Killing. ERR describes it as darker and more nocturnal than her earlier singles “Krt” and “Loe mu mõtteid,” with bass, rhythm and a melody that invites listeners to join in.
Producer Onyx’s “Mdea,” featuring Lil Till and Margiiela, is his fourth single this year with Lil Till. ERR says the track follows the pair’s earlier “Kaskadöör,” released with Margiiela and Pluuto, which set a high bar.
More albums
Jazz duo Some Times, consisting of Mikk Kaasik and Marten Männa, released its debut album, “Oddly Even,” on October 2. The 10-track record includes vocal songs that draw on pop-soul and piano rock, alongside upbeat instrumental jazz.
Tallinn indie band Lemon Trees released its fourth album, “Lucy unenäod,” titled “Сны Люси” in Russian. ERR describes its mood as predominantly melancholic, with influences from The Cure and coldwave.
Quavo’s third solo album, “Qrömelife,” was produced by Pharrell Williams. ERR’s review says the two had worked well together before, but argues that the album lacks fresh ideas, despite Pharrell’s beats. It also notes that the goodwill Migos earned is beginning to run out.
The roundup also lists releases by Dev Lemons, Mogwai, Fontaines D.C. and Lil Nas X.
