Estonia’s parliament Anti-Corruption Select Committee will examine the risks of changing Rail Baltic’s completion deadline, the project’s funding and the transparency of decision-making at a public hearing on Thursday, ERR reports.

The hearing begins at 2 p.m. and will be streamed live on the ERR website. Those invited include Ain Tatter, head of the roads and railways department at the Ministry of Climate; Anvar Salomets, chair of the board of Rail Baltic Estonia; and Lauri Betlem, chair of the board of Elron.

Committee chair Anastassia Kovalenko-Kõlvart said the government should explain the analyses behind its revised position on the deadline. She noted that the prime minister had said as recently as this summer that Rail Baltic would be completed by 2030, while the government is now discussing completion in 2034.
