Monday brings showers and thunderstorms across Estonia

Sunday 20th September 2026 on 21:00 in Estonia

Estonia weather, forecast, thunderstorms

Temperatures in Estonia will reach up to 17 degrees on Monday, with showers and thunderstorms expected in many areas, ERR reports.

A multi-centre low-pressure system over northern Europe is shaping the weather. One of its centres will move northeast from northern Finland, while a new centre develops over the Gulf of Bothnia and moves east, bringing more rain clouds across Estonia from the sea.

By Monday afternoon, the low-pressure centre will be over northwestern Russia. Winds in Estonia will turn from west to northwest, bringing colder air.

The coming night will be partly cloudy, with showers in many places. Thunderstorms are possible in western Estonia, and fog may form in some areas. Southwest and southwesterly winds will reach 3 to 9 metres per second, with gusts of up to 15 metres per second on the coast. After midnight, winds inland will become light and variable. Temperatures will range from 7 to 11 degrees, reaching 14 degrees on the coast.

Monday morning will remain partly cloudy, with showers in many areas. The risk of thunderstorms will continue in western Estonia, and fog is possible in places. Southwest and westerly winds will reach 3 to 9 metres per second, with coastal gusts of up to 14 metres per second. Temperatures will be between 9 and 14 degrees.

During the day, showers and thunderstorms will occur in many areas, with some storms bringing heavy rainfall. Winds will gradually turn west and northwest, starting in the islands, and will reach 3 to 9 metres per second, with coastal gusts of up to 13 metres per second. Stronger gusts are possible beneath thunderclouds.

Tuesday will bring scattered rain clouds, with fog in many places overnight. Temperatures will range from 5 to 13 degrees at night and from 14 to 17 degrees during the day.

On Wednesday, rain clouds will move from east to west. Night-time temperatures will be between 6 and 13 degrees, while daytime temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees.

Thursday night will provide a brief break from the rain, but a new area of precipitation will arrive from the east during the day and spread westward. Temperatures will be between 5 and 13 degrees at night and 11 and 16 degrees during the day. Friday is expected to remain rainy under the current forecast.
