Composer and saxophone virtuoso Avo Tamme dies

Composer and saxophone virtuoso Avo Tamme, author of popular songs including Aeg annab kõik, Mustamäe valss and Me pole enam väikesed, has died, ERR reported.

Tamme was born in Tallinn in 1938. After showing an early interest in music, he made his debut as a saxophonist in 1959 with the Tallinn Bus Fleet ensemble led by Uno Loop.

He began his career as a professional musician in the 1960s. A significant part of Tamme’s work and creative output was dedicated to Estonian jazz.

He was also a prominent jazz musician and saxophone virtuoso.
