Lithuanian prime minister Sinkevičius heads to Ukraine for official visit

Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius is travelling to Ukraine on Sunday for an official visit, where he will meet the country’s leaders and other officials, LRT reported.

Sinkevičius is scheduled to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi and Ruslan Stefanchuk, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament.

The talks will focus on continued Lithuanian support for Ukraine and its most urgent needs ahead of the approaching winter season.

“Considerable attention will also be given to cooperation between Lithuania and Ukraine in the defence industry. Ukraine’s accumulated experience, knowledge and technological solutions, which help prepare for the threats of modern warfare, are particularly valuable to Lithuania,” the government said.

The visit will last until Tuesday. According to BNS, Lithuania has committed to allocating at least 0.25 percent of its gross domestic product annually for Ukraine’s military and security support.

During the two-day visit, the Lithuanian prime minister also plans to visit Lutsk.

Sinkevičius visited Latvia and Estonia during his first trips abroad. After taking office in early July, he also said he wanted to visit Germany and Brussels.
