Sunday to bring widespread rain across Estonia

Sunday will bring widespread rain to Estonia as a low-pressure system over the Norwegian Sea deepens and moves towards Svalbard, ERR reports.

The system’s rainy trough will extend across the Gulf of Bothnia towards Finland and affect Estonia. Heavier rain is expected overnight on the islands and in northern Estonia, with more widespread showers arriving from the west during the day.

Overnight, skies will be variable, with showers in many places and fog in some areas. Southwesterly winds will reach 2 to 8 metres per second, up to 10 metres per second on the coast, with gusts of up to 14 metres per second. Temperatures will range from 9 to 13 degrees Celsius, reaching up to 16 degrees on the coast.

Cloud cover will increase on Sunday morning. Rain will fall in many places in western and northern Estonia, while some fog may remain in southern Estonia. Southwesterly winds will reach 3 to 9 metres per second, with coastal gusts of up to 14 metres per second.

The day will be cloudy with occasional clear spells and rain. Winds will blow from the southwest and west at 3 to 9 metres per second, with gusts of up to 12 metres per second inland and 14 metres per second on the coast. Winds will weaken in the afternoon and turn northwesterly along the coasts of the islands in the evening. Temperatures will reach 14 to 19 degrees.

Monday will be cloudy, with intermittent rain showers in many places. Cloud cover will thin in the evening and the chance of rain will decrease. Tuesday will bring clearer skies in most places, although light rain remains possible in some areas.

Cloud cover will increase again on Wednesday. Light rain will occur in places during the morning, followed by heavier rain reaching the islands in the afternoon and spreading to the mainland. Thursday will bring variable cloud cover and recurring showers. Temperatures over the following days will range from 15 to 20 degrees.
