Rain showers and strong winds to continue on Friday

Rain showers will continue on Friday, with temperatures reaching 18 degrees, ERR reported.

Cloud cover will increase overnight into Friday as a band of rain moves northeast from the Gulf of Riga across the country. Heavy rain is expected in many places, with thunderstorms also possible. Moderate southerly winds will strengthen around the Gulf of Riga, with gusts of up to 18 metres per second. Overnight temperatures will range from 8 to 15 degrees.

Rain will be heaviest in the morning around the Gulf of Riga and in central mainland Estonia, while the risk of thunderstorms will remain. Winds will reach up to 13 metres per second in southern Estonia and up to 17 metres per second around the Gulf of Riga. Morning temperatures will range from 11 to 16 degrees.

Showers will continue during the day and will be heavy in places. Clouds and rainfall will begin to clear from the northwest in the afternoon. Winds will turn northerly from the islands, while southern Estonia will see southerly and southwesterly gusts of up to 18 metres per second. Temperatures will range from 13 to 18 degrees.

Saturday will bring frequent rain showers, which will become less common by evening. Westerly winds will strengthen, with temperatures ranging from 7 to 15 degrees overnight and 14 to 18 degrees during the day.

Scattered showers are expected overnight on Sunday and more widely during the day, but they will generally be brief and rainfall totals will remain relatively low. The forecast for the beginning of next week calls for occasional showers and daytime temperatures of up to 20 degrees.
