University of Latvia marks 60th Aristotle Festival

The University of Latvia celebrated its 60th Aristotle Festival in Riga’s Old Town on Sunday, LSM reported. The event is the university’s largest occasion for welcoming the new academic year and is especially significant to much of its community.

Aristotle was welcomed at the event before participants joined a procession to the University of Latvia’s main building on Raiņa Boulevard.

Latvian Television was also at the centre of the event. Students said they were excited and described studying at the University of Latvia as a great honour.

The university received more than 28,000 applications from more than 600 people this year. It is not yet known how many students will begin studying there during the new academic year.
