Liteko II improves but remains unstable, minister says

Lithuania’s new court information system, Liteko II, is functioning better but remains insufficiently stable, Justice Minister Rita Tamašunienė said, according to LRT.

She made the comments after a Thursday meeting with judges, lawyers and prosecutors on the system’s performance.

Tamašunienė said court employees, lawyers and prosecutors were still facing problems, with particularly difficult conditions in court registries, where staff were under heavy pressure to register cases and documents.

September 1 remains an important deadline for removing the most significant disruptions affecting the system and the work of the courts, the minister said. However, she added that stabilising Liteko II would not be a one-day process and that remaining problems would have to be addressed after that date.

The National Courts Administration has strengthened its team of information technology specialists, Tamašunienė said. The main focus is on stabilising the system, removing remaining disruptions and updating it.

Liteko II has experienced disruptions since its launch in early June. The system was developed by Proit, which was later included on a list of unreliable suppliers over circumstances related to an update of the Family Support Information System. Novian Pro is currently responsible for overseeing the system’s operation.
