Estonian public broadcaster ERR reports that the youth festival Kus? will take place in Tartu from August 27 to 28, ending with a concert by Maria Kallastu in Tartu Town Hall Square.
The international festival, being held for the third time, is organised by young people. Its programme includes dancing at a kebab stall, morning runs through unexplored parts of Tartu, city adventures, jazz jam sessions and screenings of youth films.
The festival’s 17 year old lead organiser, Kertu Laanoja, said the idea originated with a question in a song by the band Trad.Attack!, “Where is my heart?”
“The song inspired us to ask where our own heart is located: in Tartu, southern Estonia, in simple everyday moments or in new adventures,” Laanoja said.
Over three days, the programme will explore questions concerning young people’s wellbeing and entertainment. Angela Ader, a project manager at Youth Connect, guided the young organisers during preparations.
The detailed programme is available on the festival’s website.
