Estlink 1, the electricity link between Estonia and Finland, will undergo scheduled maintenance from August 27 to 31, ERR reported. During the work, system operators Elering and Fingrid will also prepare for a two-month maintenance period planned for next year.

Elering board member Reigo Kebja said regular maintenance of electricity connections was necessary to maintain the reliability of Estonia’s electricity system.

Estlink 1 is scheduled to undergo longer maintenance from March 15 to May 16 next year. A two-week interruption of Estlink 2 is planned from July 19 to August 2 next year.

The work is intended to maintain the reliability of the connections between Estonia and Finland and ensure the electricity system remains sufficient in the future. The maintenance is being prepared in cooperation with Fingrid, Finland’s system operator.

Estlink 1 and Estlink 2 are direct-current electricity connections between Estonia and Finland. Estlink 1 has a capacity of 350 megawatts and was completed in 2006. Estlink 2 has a capacity of 650 megawatts and was completed in 2014.
