Watercolour artists open seaside life exhibition in Viimsi

ERR reports that the Estonian Watercolourists’ Association opened its group exhibition “Life by the Sea” at the Tünnigalerii gallery in Viimsi Artium on August 19. The exhibition features 37 artists and nearly 80 works.

The artists interpret the meaning of the sea and life by the coast from different perspectives. Their works depict stormy or shimmering waters, the anticipation of a thunderstorm, sunny days, carefree boat trips and the hard work that puts food on the table.

Some artists focus on small details and fleeting moments, while others explore broad views or the emotions inspired by the sea. Together, the works show how differently the same sea can speak to people.

Several participating artists live on the Viimsi Peninsula, linking the exhibition’s theme directly to its venue and surroundings.

“We wanted to bring to Viimsi an exhibition that would speak to local residents, for whom living close to the sea plays an important role. That is also where the exhibition’s title, ‘Life by the Sea’, comes from,” artist and curator Tiina Tarve said.

The exhibition will remain open at the Tünnigalerii through September 27.
