Social media activist detained for harassing Jews in Vilnius
A social media activist has been detained and placed in custody in Vilnius after harassing three Jewish individuals in a public space, local authorities reported on Tuesday.
Gintaras Liutkevičius, known online as Grafas Liutkevičius, was arrested following an incident in the Šeškinė district, where he allegedly approached three Jewish men on Dūkštų Street, spat on them, and encouraged others to do the same. A video of the incident, which Liutkevičius himself posted on Facebook on Sunday, shows the confrontation.
Police launched a pre-trial investigation after receiving a report on Monday. Authorities stated that Liutkevičius publicly incited hatred based on ethnicity, language, and religion. The 54-year-old activist claimed his actions were intended to “humiliate Zionists.”
