Bystanders rescue man after scooter plunge into Neris river

Bystanders in Vilnius sprang into action on Monday evening to rescue a young man whose scooter had plunged into the Neris river, LRT.lt reports.

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. near A. Goštauto Street in the capital’s centre. Passersby noticed the man fall into the water and immediately moved to help, pulling both the victim and his scooter from the river. The shallow depth at that point allowed for a quick rescue.

Onlookers applauded as the operation succeeded. A video of the rescue has since circulated online.
