Ignas Kailius, a Lithuanian volunteer soldier who went missing in early June while performing a combat mission in Ukraine, has been confirmed dead, according to a report by BNS cited by LRT.

A Facebook page dedicated to foreign volunteers in Ukraine, “Memorial – International Volunteers of Ukraine,” announced the death of the approximately 25-year-old soldier. “Our beloved Brother from Lithuania, who served as a volunteer in Ukraine, gave his life on the battlefield. Honor, glory, and gratitude to our Brother,” the post stated.

Earlier in June, 15min reported that Russian occupying forces had shelled the area where Kailius was located. Since then, there had been no information about his whereabouts. Kailius, who served as an assistant machine gunner in the Ukrainian Armed Forces since February, carried out his combat mission on June 2.

BNS noted that two other Lithuanians, Tadas Tumas and Tomas Valentėlis, had previously died on the Ukrainian front.
