Storm causes damage across Lithuania, felling trees and damaging property

A severe storm swept through parts of Lithuania on Sunday, causing significant damage as trees were uprooted, vehicles crushed, and buildings damaged, according to a report by LRT.

Emergency services received 26 calls related to fallen trees, with the majority—16—coming from the Kaunas district, said Edita Zdanevičienė, a representative of the Fire and Rescue Department.

In Kėdainiai, a tree fell onto a Škoda Octavia in the courtyard of an apartment building on P. Lukšio Street around 2 p.m. Firefighters cut and removed the tree. In Kaunas, four trees fell at the intersection of Lakūnų Highway and J. Bakanausko Street, blocking the road. In the Prienai district, four trees also fell across a road in Pociūnų village.

In Kaunas, a tree collapsed onto a three-story apartment building along the Nemuno Embankment, damaging a third-floor balcony and its side structure.
