Prime Minister Inga Ruginienė has called on Interior Minister Vladislavas Kondratovičius to take decisive action after another cybersecurity incident exposed vulnerabilities in government email systems, LRT reports.

Speaking after a meeting with Kondratovičius on Monday, Ruginienė said the repeated breaches—including the latest hack of 50 Interior Ministry employees’ accounts—demand accountability. While initial findings suggest no data leaked, she stressed that the Information and Communications Department, directly responsible for oversight, must answer for its failures.

“We can’t just record these incidents and do nothing,” Ruginienė said. “I want to see concrete actions. This inaction raises questions. It’s time to question the leadership’s responsibility.”

The prime minister also highlighted an ongoing investigation into a major contraband case involving over 10 police and border guard officers, calling the scale of internal corruption “unacceptable.” She criticised immunity services for failing to prevent such systemic abuses, adding that agency heads must now explain their role in the lapses.

Kondratovičius has reportedly requested explanations from subordinate leaders, with further discussions expected next week.
