Lithuanian public broadcaster’s annual report rejected by governing council
The governing council of Lithuanian National Radio and Television (LRT) has refused to approve the public broadcaster’s 2025 annual activity report, the BNS news agency reported on Monday.
According to LRT administration, the council did not endorse the report during its May 19 meeting. A revised version will be reviewed and voted on in June following feedback from council members.
Under current law, LRT’s director-general prepares the annual report for submission to the council, which must then publish and present it to the Seimas (parliament) by July 1 each year. The report includes financial statements, revenue sources—particularly from non-public service activities—and a breakdown of associated expenses. Where resources are used for both public and commercial services, costs must be allocated proportionally.
The council’s chairperson is required to account for LRT’s operations in an annual address to the Seimas.
