Turnout in the Nalšia North single-member constituency by-election reached 32.23%, including 9.49% who voted early, according to the Central Electoral Commission. LRT reported that 22.74% of eligible voters cast ballots on Sunday.
Polling stations closed at 8 p.m. A total of 28,435 residents were eligible to vote in the early parliamentary election.
Central Electoral Commission chair Lina Petronienė said several reports of minor irregularities had been reviewed during the first hours of voting. Monitors noted that some political advertising may not have been fully marked under updated rules, which now follow European standards. The issues were corrected, she said, and the commission had received no reports of more serious violations.
Eleven candidates were running: Ignotas Adomavičius, nominated by Nemuno Aušra; Giedrius Dainys of the Centre-Right Union; Gintautas Kindurys of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union; Social Democrat Vladislavas Kondratovičius; Nikolajus Lebedevičius of the Lithuanian Regions Party; Maksimas Paukštė of the Freedom Party; Mėta Paulauskė of the Liberal Movement; Antanas Šakalis of the Union of Democrats For Lithuania; Andrejus Šildiajevas of the Homeland Union-Lithuanian Christian Democrats; Viktoras Voroninas of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania-Christian Families Alliance; and Dalia Štraupaitė of the National Justice Union.
The by-election was called after liberal MP Jevgenijus Šuklinas, elected in the constituency in 2024, died in late May. The Central Electoral Commission revoked his parliamentary mandate in early June. The Electoral Code requires a by-election within six months when a constituency-elected MP’s term ends, unless less than a year remains before the next regular parliamentary election.
