Lithuanian border guards turned back seven irregular migrants at the border with Belarus in the past 24 hours, LRT reported, citing the State Border Guard Service.

Latvian border guards turned back five migrants on Saturday. No attempts to cross illegally were recorded at the Polish border on Friday.

Lithuania has prevented 1,896 irregular migrants from entering the country this year. Last year, people attempted to enter Lithuania from Belarus at unauthorised locations more than 1,600 times, compared with 1,002 attempts the year before.

The influx of migrants from Belarus to the EU’s eastern member states began in 2021. Western countries accuse the Minsk regime of organising it.
