Home voting in the early parliamentary election in the Nalšia North single-member constituency begins Friday and will run for two days, LRT reported, citing BNS.

Members of election commissions will visit voters on Friday and Saturday. People with disabilities, those caring for them at home, people temporarily unable to work because of illness, and voters aged 70 or over are eligible to vote at home.

Advance voting at municipal buildings took place from Tuesday to Thursday. Voting is also being organised at health-care and social-care institutions from November 4 to 6. Election day is November 8.

Only voters whose declared place of residence is within the constituency may vote. The constituency covers Ignalina District Municipality, Visaginas and three polling districts in Zarasai District Municipality: Salakas, Smalvos and Turmantas.

Eleven candidates are seeking the parliamentary seat. They are Ignas Adomavičius of Nemuno Aušra; Giedrius Dainys of the Centre-Right Union; Gintautas Kindurys of the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union; Vladislavas Kondratovičius of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party; Nikolajus Lebedevičius of the Lithuanian Regions Party; Maksimas Paukštė of the Freedom Party; Mėta Paulauskė of the Liberal Movement; Antanas Šakalis of the Democrats Union For Lithuania; Andrejus Šildiajevas of the Homeland Union Lithuanian Christian Democrats; Dalia Štraupaitė of the Union for the People and Justice; and Viktoras Voroninas of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania Christian Families Alliance.

The by-election is being held after Jevgenijus Šuklinas, the Liberal MP elected in the constituency, died in May.
