ERSO will mark its 100th season with nine concerts at venues across Tallinn from November 13 to 20, ERR reports. The festival, titled “A Century Celebration!”, will bring together the orchestra’s past, present and future, with recordings of six concerts to be published later on ERR’s culture portal.

At the opening concert, “The Hundredth Symphony”, on November 13, ERSO will perform works by Eduard Tubin and Villem Kapp, as well as Joseph Haydn’s lively Symphony No. 100. Maestro Neeme Järvi will conduct.

On November 14, ERSO musicians from different generations will perform chamber music at MUBA hall. The following day, the orchestra’s newest and youngest members will play at Kadriorg Castle.

In cooperation with ERR, the festival will also visit the radio house, a former home and rehearsal hall for ERSO. A studio concert on November 16 will feature music the orchestra performed at its first appearances nearly a century ago.

The “Audiospaa” concert series will bring ERSO musicians to the newly completed Taru nature house on November 17 for works inspired by sounds of nature and birds.

The festival concludes with anniversary concerts on November 19 and 20. Chief conductor Olari Elts will lead performances of Lepo Sumera’s Symphony No. 5 and Richard Strauss’s tone poem “Also sprach Zarathustra”. Benjamin Britten’s overture “The Building of the House” will also be performed with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.
