A 98-year-old man in Klaipėda lost 91,140 euros after an acquaintance allegedly withdrew the money from a bank card in his name, LRT reported, citing the Police Department.

The man, born in 1928, told police on Wednesday that he sold an apartment to the woman in Klaipėda on May 20. She obtained a bank payment card in his name and withdrew the money in various ways by November 4, he said.

Police also reported two other alleged fraud cases. In Kaunas, a man who introduced himself as a municipal housing services employee entered a 1941-born woman’s apartment after she opened the door and fraudulently took about 30,000 euros.

In Šalčininkai, a 1994-born man said he was persuaded by a Russian-speaking stranger to invest through an online platform after filling in an online investment services advertisement on September 15. He said he lost 65,000 euros.

Police have opened pre-trial investigations into all three cases.
