Madise and Jordanian crown prince discuss ties, Ukraine and Middle East security
Estonian President Ülle Madise met Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II in Kadriorg on Wednesday to discuss closer ties, support for Ukraine and security in the Middle East, ERR reported.
Madise said Estonia and Jordan could cooperate in health technology, digital solutions, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and the defence industry. She said the goal was to turn mutual interest into practical projects that benefit both countries.
On European security, Madise said support for Ukraine must continue. She noted Jordan’s support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, including in votes on United Nations resolutions, and urged the country to maintain that position.
Madise invited the Jordanian delegation to a Ukraine reconstruction conference, saying the countries could work on solutions to help Ukraine get through the winter and restore a safe living environment over the longer term.
Madise also expressed Estonia’s solidarity with Jordan and other countries in the region targeted by Iranian attacks, and praised Jordan for repelling them. She condemned the terrorist attack in Jordan on October 23 and praised the country’s continued efforts to ease tensions and achieve peace.
Madise thanked Jordan for delivering humanitarian aid to people in Gaza. She said the humanitarian situation in Gaza and worsening conditions in the occupied West Bank were deeply concerning. She added that, although reaching a two-state solution was becoming increasingly difficult, there was no viable alternative, and both Israelis and Palestinians must be able to live safely and with dignity.
