Latvia’s “With Latvia in joy and sorrow!” campaign will promote public resilience and encourage residents to get involved, LSM reports. The campaign is due to begin in November.
Its launch event is being held outside the LTV television building on Zaķusala, with representatives of security and rescue services, critical infrastructure companies and civil society organisations expected to attend.
The campaign describes resilience as the ability to stay calm, remain united and act together when normal life is disrupted. It aims to show that resilience depends not only on state institutions and military defence, but also on people’s knowledge, skills and readiness to help and participate.
Its symbolic theme is the “72-year bag,” representing resilience as skills, knowledge and attitudes developed throughout a lifetime. The campaign also aims to increase participation in organised activities, including a programme supporting the National Guard.
