Estonia, parliamentary election, Social Democratic Party

Estonia’s Social Democratic Party has approved Jonatan Vseviov as its candidate for prime minister, ERR reported. Vseviov will lead the party’s list in Harju and Rapla counties in the 2027 parliamentary election.

Party leader Lauri Läänemets proposed Vseviov for the role, saying his task was to find the best solutions for Estonia. The party council backed the proposal.

“We will go into the election as one team with Jonatan,” Läänemets said. He said the party aimed to win and return Estonia to Europe’s core. He added that its support was now three times higher than before the previous parliamentary election.

In a speech to the council, Vseviov said Estonia should significantly raise its foreign policy ambitions and help shape Europe’s future. He said Estonia needed a strong and influential voice in decisions affecting the continent.
