Rapper Säm says he has spent a year and a half refining every song on his third studio album, “Paar pilve taevas,” which is due out next week. He told ERR’s “Hommik Anuga” that he is satisfied with the finished record and has developed significantly as a songwriter.

Säm worked on the album with Steven Ilves, making sure every word, verse and sentence was in the right place. He said his earlier albums felt somewhat rushed, but he has no sense that he could have done more with this one.

Säm said he does not want to explain what the album is about, adding that listeners can interpret the songs in their own way.

Last year, Säm won Radio 2’s annual hit vote with “Kanuu.” Three more of his songs also made the top 10. “Kanuu” has since drawn nearly three million streams on Spotify and about one million views on YouTube.

Before “Kanuu,” his most popular song was “Mõista-mõista,” released in 2019. Säm said he had been unable to surpass that earlier hit and was glad to have a new song that audiences now ask to hear.
