Police detained eight people who were in Estonia illegally in Mustamäe district on Friday afternoon, ERR reported. Two were taken to hospital for medical checks, while the other six were taken to a detention centre.
At about 3:30 p.m., a member of the public alerted police after seeing eight dark-skinned men get out of a vehicle on J. Sütiste Street. The vehicle drove away, and the men began moving around the neighbourhood. Police detained the group near an apartment building.
Silver Hanikat, an operations chief at the Northern Prefecture, said the prompt report helped officers respond quickly. He said two of the men needed medical assistance and were taken to hospital for further checks.
Initial information indicated that seven of the men were from Somalia and one from Algeria. Hanikat said none had documents with them and all were in Estonia illegally.
