Johanna Elise says her Eesti Laul entry clicked immediately

Eesti Laul finalist Johanna Elise says her entry, “Getaway Car,” clicked with her immediately, ERR reports. The song combines elements familiar from her earlier work with something new, she said.

Johanna Elise, who is taking part in the Eesti Laul song contest for the third time, said her goal this year is to enjoy the competition.

“I remember that the last time I took part, I made a deal with myself: I could be nervous, worry, cry, shout and do whatever I wanted for the three months before the competition, but once I was there, I would just enjoy it,” she said. “I managed to do that, and I want to do the same this time.”

“Getaway Car” was written by Gevin Niglas and Anna Graceman. Johanna Elise said she was pleased to be offered the song. “With songs, it’s always a question of whether it clicks or not. It clicked for me straight away,” she said.

She described the song with the words anticipation, tension and passion. Rather than tell listeners what to find in it, she said, she wants them to decide what they take from the lyrics and music.
