Rasmus Lumi, Estonia’s deputy foreign minister for administrative affairs, will serve as acting chancellor of the Foreign Ministry from Monday, November 2, until a new chancellor is appointed, Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said Thursday, ERR reports.
Lumi has been deputy minister for administrative affairs since November last year. He graduated from the University of Tartu’s law faculty and joined the Foreign Ministry in 1995 as a junior adviser in its legal department. He has since held several senior posts, including director general of the ministry’s personnel department, Estonian ambassador to Spain and Estonia’s permanent representative to the Council of Europe.
Current chancellor Jonatan Vseviov is leaving the ministry in November to enter politics. He is the Social Democratic Party’s candidate for prime minister.
