Estonian artist Edith Karlson will open her solo exhibition “Well, well, well” in Dublin on November 7, ERR reports. The exhibition centres on the well as a bottomless source of stories, beliefs and meanings.

Karlson’s starting point is a mystical well beneath the floor of The Douglas Hyde Gallery of Contemporary Art, an art centre in central Dublin’s Trinity College complex.

The exhibition is curated by gallery director Dr Georgina Jackson. The gallery, which has operated since 1978, will serve as the main organiser and curator of Ireland’s pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale in 2026.

“Well, well, well” will travel to London, where it is due to open at Southwark Park Galleries in April 2027.

Karlson represented Estonia at the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024. She graduated from the Estonian Academy of Arts, where she studied installation and sculpture. She received an artist’s salary in 2018-2020 and 2022-2024, and won the Estonian Cultural Endowment’s grand prize in 2021 and a national culture award in 2025.
