Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda has convened a meeting of the State Defence Council on Thursday to discuss integrated air defence and other security issues, LRT reported.
The agenda also includes changes to the system for warning people of air attack threats, the transition to universal conscription and prospects for cooperation with Ukraine’s defence industry, presidential adviser Ridas Jasiulionis told the ELTA news agency.
The meeting will consider changes to response procedures after a Ukrainian drone that entered Lithuania from Poland crashed in the country earlier this month. Nausėda has said he would propose tailoring improvements to public warning systems to account for regions with higher and lower chances of drone incursions.
Nausėda last convened the council in mid-September, when members reviewed the security situation and discussed the development of integrated air defence and anti-drone measures.
