Professor Vytautas Landsbergis, the first leader of restored independent Lithuania, remains under medical observation after being admitted to Santaros Clinics on Tuesday, LRT reported. His son, Vytautas V. Landsbergis, said his condition was stable and improving.
Doctors are still carrying out tests. “Nothing out of the ordinary, the situation is under control and improving, and doctors are monitoring him,” his son said. He added that the health setback was most likely related to an infection.
Landsbergis turned 94 on October 18. He needed medical care in April after developing vision problems and underwent two operations. He was also hospitalised last year with a complicated pain syndrome that caused mobility problems.
