Culture Minister Heidy Purga has removed Aleksei Jašin from the Integration Foundation’s supervisory board after he left Eesti 200 for the Social Democratic Party, ERR reports.
A ministerial order says Eesti 200 proposed Jašin’s removal on October 15. The party’s letter is classified for internal use by the Ministry of Culture under a law restricting access to personal data when disclosure could significantly harm someone’s privacy.
Jašin’s replacement was not unexpected. The board traditionally includes representatives of relevant ministries, parties represented in parliament and experts in the field. Jašin served as Eesti 200’s representative.
Purga appointed Nikita Lumijõe to the board for a three-year term. Lumijõe has been an Eesti 200 member since 2018 and works as an adviser to Education Minister Kristina Kallas, who leads the party. Henri Kaselo represents the Social Democratic Party on the board.
Jašin was an Eesti 200 member from November 19, 2018, until October 2, 2026. He joined the Social Democratic Party on October 14. Before leaving Eesti 200, he had been discussed as a possible new party leader.
