One Latvian voter changed their ballot five times, setting an election record
One voter changed their choice five times during Latvia’s parliamentary election, the highest number recorded, LSM reported, citing data compiled by the Central Election Commission (CVK).
In total, 729 voters changed their minds twice. They first cast a ballot for one party list during the week before election day, then went to a polling station on election day to vote for another party. Their earlier ballot was cancelled when they voted again.
Four voters repeated the process twice, while one changed their vote five times.
The 15th Saeima election took place on October 3. Voters could cast ballots for safekeeping at polling stations across Latvia from September 28 until election day. The newly elected parliament is due to meet for its first session on November 3, when the 14th Saeima’s term will end.
