Enn Eesmaa, a longtime Centre Party member and former television and radio journalist, has announced he will join the Isamaa political party and run in the March parliamentary elections, ERR reports.

“Throughout my career, whether in journalism or politics, I have been a team player. Isamaa has a strong and capable team in the economy, culture, national defence and other fields, and I am pleased to be able to contribute,” Eesmaa said in a press release from the party.

He said he would work with Isamaa leader Urmas Reinsalu and others to ensure Estonia is protected, its voice is heard internationally, and the Estonian language and culture are preserved and respected.

Reinsalu welcomed Eesmaa’s decision, describing him as a balanced and values-driven person. He said they had worked together in different settings, most recently when Reinsalu was foreign minister and Eesmaa was deputy chair of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee.

Eesmaa was a Centre Party member from 2003 to 2024. According to the business register, he was not yet listed as an Isamaa member early on October 26.
