Estonia, forecast, weather

Cloudy, rainy weather is expected on Monday morning, with showers continuing through the week, ERR reports. Winds will be strong in places, while temperatures will mostly remain around 9 to 11 degrees Celsius.

Overnight, a low-pressure system that brought a severe storm to the North Sea by Sunday will move into southern Norway, then head towards the Norwegian Sea during the day. Heavy rain is forecast in southern Scandinavia, with sleet in the mountains. A trough extending over the Baltic Sea will bring showers across Estonia. Rain will be light, locally moderate, but winds will be strong in places.

Overnight, rain will move east across Estonia under partly cloudy skies. South-easterly and southerly winds will reach 6 to 12 metres per second, with gusts of up to 17 metres per second. On the islands and western coast, winds will reach 10 to 15 metres per second, with gusts up to 21 metres per second and, early in the night on the islands, up to 24 metres per second. Temperatures will be 6 to 11 degrees.

Monday morning will be cloudy and rainy, with moderate south-easterly and southerly winds that will be strong in gusts. Temperatures will range from 8 to 11 degrees. During the day, skies will have some clear spells and showers will pass through. Clouds will be thicker and rain heavier in eastern Estonia. Winds will reach 5 to 12 metres per second, with gusts up to 17 metres per second; on the islands and western coast, they will reach 9 to 14 metres per second, with gusts up to 20 metres per second. Winds will ease inland in the afternoon. The high will be 9 to 12 degrees.

On Tuesday, an active low-pressure system arriving from the Atlantic will reach the Faroe Islands and spread over southern Scandinavia during the day. Rain clouds will reach western Estonia, while the edge of a high-pressure area over Russia will extend over the east of the country, bringing clearer, dry weather there both overnight and during the day. Cloud cover will vary, with the best chance of showers in western Estonia overnight and scattered rain possible across the country during the day. Temperatures will average about 11 degrees.

The second half of the working week will bring partly cloudy skies. Wednesday night will be mostly dry, with isolated rain in western Estonia during the day. Rain will be more widespread on Thursday, then ease from the west around midday. Temperatures will average about 10 degrees on those days. On Friday, the average will fall to 9 degrees, with fog and some rain in places.
