Estonia will spend €13.5 million to host the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Tallinn next year, conference media relations chief Reimo Raja told ERR.
The event, known as URC27, will take place on January 28 and 29. Nearly all ministries and several government agencies are involved in its substantive and practical preparations, Raja said.
A 16-member project team is handling the conference’s technical delivery. It is led by Tiit Riisalo, while the Foreign Ministry’s process is being led by Deputy Secretary General for Economic Development and Development Cooperation Mariin Ratnik.
Several thousand guests are expected, including national leaders and politicians, business executives, representatives of international organisations and financial institutions, European Union officials and civil society groups. Raja said several important participants had confirmed they would attend, but declined to name them.
Preparatory events include the Rebuild Ukraine conference in Warsaw on November 12 and 13. An EU-Ukraine investment forum will be held alongside it, aiming to attract private investment for Ukraine’s recovery, resilience and renewal. Estonia’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry Liina Vahtras will attend.
Raja described Ukraine’s reconstruction as Europe’s largest economic project of the coming decade, involving the repair of infrastructure destroyed by Russia’s aggression, the development of strong democratic institutions and closer integration with the EU. Estonia has supported Ukraine’s reconstruction through hundreds of projects since 2022, with dozens of Estonian companies and organisations contributing to recovery and resilience efforts.
