Police have detained two employees of Estonia’s Transport Administration and a company representative over suspected bribery linked to road construction projects, ERR reports.

The Central Criminal Police suspect the 36-year-old company representative of repeatedly giving bribes totalling at least 2,300 euros. The two agency employees are suspected of accepting bribes in exchange for failing to perform their duties. Investigators suspect, for example, that they accepted a project before it was completed and carried out inadequate supervision.

Initial information indicates that the alleged offences involved two Transport Administration tenders to repair roads in Järva and Ida-Viru counties. The tenders were worth more than 1.3 million euros in total.

The allegations are preliminary, and further details will be established during an investigation led by the District Prosecutor’s Office for Economic and Corruption Crimes.
