Inger urges people to notice one another more
Estonian singer Inger says people should pay more attention to those around them, as she released her new EP, “Suwe,” on Thursday. She spoke to ERR’s morning programme Terevisioon about the release.
The EP draws on summer and time spent together. Inger said her busy summer included touring Estonia in her tiramisu bus and travelling to Canada to write music. The trip inspired her to return to writing songs in English.
“The album came from those lovely moments and the time spent with family and loved ones,” she said. “There is certainly a feeling of longing on this album, which we all experience when summer ends and we start waiting for it again.”
Inger said noticing others is also an important theme on the EP. She believes people are increasingly losing sight of what is happening around them.
She recalled waiting for an order at a café on Monday when another customer smiled at her and said they liked her music. The person added that Estonians rarely speak up or notice one another. Inger said the unexpected exchange stayed with her and encouraged her to express her thoughts more often.
