Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius said he continues to trust Finance Minister Taurimas Valys, despite criticism from coalition partners and the opposition, LRT reported.
“I trust him. And I think the whole government, not just Taurimas Valys but the entire cabinet, is working steadily. I hope that will continue,” Sinkevičius told reporters on Thursday.
Coalition partners have criticised Valys over what they described as a lack of competence and a failure to consult them while preparing the budget. Some have not been able to confirm whether they will support next year’s budget proposal. The opposition has also criticised the minister.
Asked about the government’s first 100 days, marked this week, Sinkevičius said it had completed a lot of significant work and he hoped it would achieve more.
