One hundred Estonian artists have created works inspired by A. H. Tammsaare’s novel Truth and Justice, with the artworks and one-off books featuring reproductions of them set to go up for auction, ERR reported.

The project marks 100 years since the novel’s first edition. Its idea came from Maarja Vaino, director of the Tallinn Literature Centre. She said she knew of no previous book auction in Estonia dedicated to a single work.

Vaino said the project explores how artworks in different techniques interact with the books bearing their reproductions. The books and original artworks will be auctioned with starting prices of 50 euros and 350 euros, respectively.

An online auction platform will open on the Vaal Gallery website on Tuesday. The auction is scheduled for October 30.
