Journalist, archive researcher and translator Daiva Vilkelytė died on Tuesday, LRT.lt reported, citing confirmation from her relatives.
In recent years, Vilkelytė focused on historical research. She prepared a report for the so-called Desovietization Commission about the controversial poet Salomėja Nėris, including commentary on Nėris’s life and cooperation with the Soviet occupation authorities.
This year, Vilkelytė also revealed that Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius’s doctoral dissertation, defended at ISM University, was not publicly available online. The disclosure prompted discussion about the dissertation’s quality and the circumstances in which it was prepared. The university is investigating the dissertation.
