Estonian and Helsinki art academies open joint exhibition in Finland

Tuesday 20th October 2026 on 14:30 in Estonia

art, Estonia, Finland

A group exhibition bringing together 22 students from the Estonian Academy of Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of the Arts Helsinki opens on Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Kuva/Tila exhibition space in Finland, ERR reports.

Titled “Bridge/Silta,” the exhibition uses the idea of a bridge both as a physical structure and as a way to create connections. The students say the collaboration builds ties between the two neighbouring countries and their art academies, encouraging dialogue, mutual learning and the exchange of experience.

The project’s first part will be shown in Helsinki in October 2026. The same group of students will present a second exhibition at the Estonian Academy of Arts Gallery in Tallinn in January 2027. Together, the exhibitions are intended to form a conceptual bridge between Finland and Estonia, allowing artistic ideas, working methods and cultural experiences to move in both directions.

The participating artists are Eeva-Liisa Anttila, Cecilia Ebbe Belinskij, Vita Edvards, Denis Kudrjašov, Anetta Lukjanova, Sandra Marins, Daniel Niittymäki, Liisa Nurklik, Anna Ovtšinnikova, Jaakko Pennanen, Viljamaria Raittila, Ella Rahkonen, Paul Rannik, Kertu Rannula, Mahmood Salim, Kertu-Liisa Sarap, Marc Léger Sauvageot, Nora Schmelter, Kati Silo, Yiyang Sun, Hanna Vinter and Maria Wrang-Rasmussen.

The exhibition is curated by Merike Estna, Kristi Kongi, Kaisa Maasik, Päivi Takala, Salla Tykkä and Laura Wesamaa.
