Lithuanian MP Antanas Nedzinskas said he had voted from the workstation of neighbouring lawmaker Alvydas Mockus during a parliamentary session, LRT reported.

The vote took place as the Seimas, Lithuania’s parliament, considered amendments to the Law on Social Assistance for Pupils submitted by the Ministry of Social Security and Labour. Nedzinskas told colleagues he had voted from Mockus’s place and that Mockus had not voted.

Session chair Jūratė Zailskienė said the incident would be recorded in the minutes, describing it as an accidental mistake. Opposition Liberal MP Eugenijus Gentvilas said he believed parliament should respond more broadly, while acknowledging that anyone could make a mistake.

In 2023, Petras Gražulis, now a member of the European Parliament, lost his Seimas seat after voting on behalf of another MP. The Constitutional Court ruled that his action violated the Constitution and that he had broken his parliamentary oath.
