Rakvere Theatre begins rehearsals for Christmas production
Rehearsals have begun at Rakvere Theatre for its Christmas production, “12 Gifts for Santa Claus,” based on a story by Mauri Kunnas, ERR reported. The play will premiere on Dec. 10, 2026, at the theatre’s large venue.
In the story, elf Ville worries that Santa Claus gives gifts to children around the world but never receives any himself. With his dog, Reku, Ville sets out to make sure Santa gets gifts this year. With 12 days until Christmas, they plan a new present for him each day.
Urmas Lennuk is directing the story of thoughtful gifts with a mischievous twist. “Who among us remembers the last time they gave Santa Claus a present? I certainly don’t,” Lennuk said. “What do you even give someone whose heart is happy only when he gets to give gifts himself?”
Elo Elmers is the set designer, Roomet Villau the lighting designer and Imre Õunapuu the composer. The cast includes Rainer Elhi, Loviise Kapper, Märten Matsu, Laura Niils, Eduard Salmistu, Carolyn Veensalu and Õunapuu.
